For a number of reasons, Shrimpy has decided to disable our Developer API service. This is going to be completed in stages in order to allow customers utilizing our Developer API's to migrate to a new service.
Starting December 10, 2021, we will no longer accept new signups for our Developer API service. Those currently utilizing this service will retain full access, but we strongly encourage you to migrate to a new service at your earliest convenience.
On January 17, 2022, we will be disabling the infrastructure supporting our Developer API. At this time, you will no longer be able to access our Developer API service.
FAQ
Q: Is there an alternative you recommend?
A: Unfortunately, we can't recommend an alternative. That said, we believe this might be a good place to start your search.
Q: As an existing customer, can I still use the API?
A: You can use the Shrimpy Developer APIs until January 17, 2022. After that point, no one will have access.
Q: Will the APIs return in another form?
A: At this time, we have no plans to re-launch the APIs.
Q: Will you reconsider?
A: Unfortunately, due to waning demand, it no longer makes sense financially for us to offer this service. The resources dedicated to this service would have a greater impact if they were directed toward our primary platform. Due to these reasons, this decision can be considered final.
Q: Can I still buy credits?
A: Yes. You may purchase additional credits through January 17, 2022. After that point, Shrimpy will prohibit additional credit purchases.
Q: What happens to my credits?
A: Please use them before January 17, 2022. After that date, you may request a refund for any unused credits.
Q: Can I get a refund on my subscription (legacy)?
A: You may cancel your legacy subscription today and retain access through the end of your current billing period.
Q: Is the Shrimpy API being shut down as well?
A: No, https://api.shrimpy.io/ is not being removed.
Q: Is this because I complained too much?
A: Of course not! This decision was not a result of complaints from customers. We always welcome all forms of feedback from our customers, and there is not any one customer that we feel has complained "too much".
