IP Whitelisting is a feature which exchanges use to restrict access to your cryptocurrency exchange account. Setting up IP Whitelists means the exchange will only accept requests when they are sent from the specific IPs that are input into the exchange. This prevents unauthorized access to your exchange account from any other IP.
Shrimpy Pro allows IP Whitelisting by ensuring we will only communicate with your exchange account from the IPs we provide you. This way, we can still perform trades, collect data from your account, and rebalance your portfolio, but only from the specified IPs.
Note: Shrimpy Pro provides 2 sets of IP addresses, one set for Binance exchange accounts and another set for all other exchange accounts. You must utilize the Binance-specific IP addresses for your Binance exchange account in order to prevent interruptions in API connectivity.
How to set up IP whitelisting for your non-Binance exchange account
First, navigate to your Shrimpy Pro settings. Under "Security&API" you will find a button labeled "Generate IPs". It should look like the following:
This button will generate 4 IP addresses. These IPs should be copied so they can be entered into the exchange where you will whitelist Shrimpy Pro for access to your API keys.
Warning: You must copy and enter ALL 4 of the IP addresses we provide into your exchange account. Copying only some of these addresses or including additional addresses will result in failures.
Once you have entered all of the IPs into your exchange account, Shrimpy Pro will now be set up to fully take advantage of IP whitelisting.
IP Whitelisting on Binance
Binance no longer accepts API requests from restricted areas, so you'll need to route through our servers outside of the US. We've provided a Binance-specific section for IP Whitelisting that can be used to route your API requests through our external servers. You will be provided with 3 IP addresses that all need to be added to your Binance API keys before linking those keys to your Shrimpy Pro account.
Please notice that the IPs should be separated by a space, not a comma, if whitelisting on Binance. We have received reports that Binance no longer accepts IP addresses separated by commas, each IP address should be entered one at a time.
Warning: You must copy and enter ALL 3 of the IP addresses we provide into your exchange account. Copying only some of these addresses or including additional addresses will result in failures.
Once you have entered all of the IPs into your exchange account, Shrimpy Pro will now be set up to fully take advantage of IP whitelisting.
