This help article is meant to serve as a synopsis of situation surrounding Coinbase and their new trading platform Coinbase Advanced.
The current situation
On 22 June 2022 Coinbase announced that it was going to be shutting down Coinbase Pro in favor of their newly launched trading platform Coinbase Advanced which is to be integrated with their Coinbase platform offering a unified balance experience on Coinbase.
As of the posting date of this help article and for as long as it remains visible within our Help Center, Coinbase has not released their API for Coinbase Advanced. This means that while the platform is live, it is only available for manual use - meaning you cannot trade on Coinbase Advanced without physically logging into their platform and placing trades yourself utilizing the Coinbase trading interface. Until Coinbase releases their API for Coinbase Advanced, there is and will be no way to automate trading on Coinbase Advanced via external means.
Previously, Coinbase had planned to sunset Coinbase Pro on 9 November 2022, however, due to their lack of APIs for Coinbase Advanced they have decided to postpone shutting down Coinbase Pro Rest APIs. At the time of posting this help article, there is not an expected date for sunsetting Coinbase Pro APIs, however, they are continuing with migrating customers and their balances from Coinbase Pro to Coinbase. To account for their lack of API on Coinbase Advanced, they are migrating API users during the final phase of their migration.
Additionally, at this time you are not able to add funds to Coinbase Pro and Coinbase does not have plans to re-enable deposits to Coinbase Pro.
What this means for you
If you have funds on Coinbase Pro, and you already have API keys created for your Coinbase Pro account, you can still use Shrimpy as designed until your Coinbase Pro account is migrated.
If you do not already have funds on Coinbase Pro, if your Coinbase Pro account does not have active API keys, or if your account has already been migrated, you will not be able to utilize Shrimpy to manage your Coinbase Pro account.
Once your Coinbase Pro account is migrated to their new system, we will be unable to assist with managing funds held on Coinbase until they release Coinbase Advanced APIs.
In the event you are unable to use Shrimpy to manage your Coinbase Pro account, our recommendation is to contact the Coinbase team to express your dissatisfaction and consider migrating to one of our other supported exchanges. A complete list of exchanges supported by Shrimpy can be found here.
What Shrimpy is doing
The Shrimpy team is in near daily contact with the team at Coinbase in order to ensure that we take action as soon as Coinbase releases their APIs. Additionally, we are working with their team to determine if there are any alternative options available to us in order to potentially offer a limited form of service for our customers that utilize Coinbase as a custodian, as well as making preparations to ensure a quick and smooth transition into Coinbase Advanced.
There will come a point where you will need to take action to link your Coinbase Advanced account to Shrimpy. When the time comes, we will be sending out an email and an in-app notification to all customers with more information.
